What is the best affordable beginner D-SLR camera, in your opinion?

Question by musikchik: What is the best affordable beginner D-SLR camera, in your opinion?
I am very interested in purchasing a digital SLR camera to learn with. I have taken a photography class and would like to experiment more creatively with a digital SLR so I would say I am a beginner. I am mainly looking at Canon and Nikon. I have other Canon products which I am very happy with but the D-SLRs are a bit on the pricey side from my budget right now, however I do hear that they have the widest range of lenses. So my questions: 1) What are the main differences between the Canon Rebel series and say the 20 or 30D models? 2) Is a Nikon 80D comparable to a Canon 30D? What would you say is the best one for a beginner? 3) If I see a good price on a camrea body alone, should I take it and then invest on a good lens or start off with a kit? — The cameras that are attractive to me in terms of affordability are the Canon 20D and Nikon D40.

Is it possible to use lenses from the older “analog” cameras on some of the newer professional digital cameras?

Question by : Is it possible to use lenses from the older “analog” cameras on some of the newer professional digital cameras?
My father has a bunch of these really nice nikon and visio lenses that went with his older “analog” professional photographers camera that used film instead of the newer digital cameras, which are obviously digital instead of using film.
I would like to know if it is possible to find a nikon camera, or any brand really, that i would be able to fit these lenses on the mount and have them work properly rather than spending several thousand dollars on new lenses.

thank you for any help in advance, it is appriciated,

The storage media used by a camera has little to do with the lens mount system. If the lens mount systems are the same, then the lenses will work whether a camera uses flash memory or film.

If the camera manufacturer changed the lens mounting method, then it is what it is…

Q&A: Which Digital SLR Camera Should I Buy?

Question by JeepPwner: Which Digital SLR Camera Should I Buy?
I’m thinking of buying a Digital SLR camera and am a bit overwhelmed by the many different models each manufacturer offers. I know that I don’t want to get a low-end camera but also don’t need a professional quality camera. I just need something to take great pics of family and friends.

What camera do you have? What features do you like about it? What features do you not like, or wish it had?

Thanks!

Answer by Kori
My camera at the moment is just a travel-size point-and-shoot, because I’m poor and can’t afford a digital SLR.

But, if I were to buy one, I would make sure that it has greater than 3x Optical Zoom and at least 10 megapixels. In my opinion, those are the two most important specs for an SLR.

I had my eye on the Canon Rebel, it’s a really nice SLR. Check it out: http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/613611-REG/Canon_3818B001_EOS_Rebel_T1i_Digital.html
